Only a Producer with the background of Dan Gifford could have successfully tackled a project like THE JAUNDICED EYE. In 1997, his first feature documentary, WACO: THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT was nominated for an Academy Award.

To make THE JAUNDICED EYE the hot, new hard-hitting work that it is, Dan was able to draw upon his many years of experience in broadcast journalism. Having served as a television news reporter for ABC News, The McNeil/Lehrer NewsHour and CNN, that background was indispensable in overseeing fact-based works of non-fiction like WACO: THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT and THE JAUNDICED EYE.

Dan studied at The Johns Hopkins University, The Peabody Conservatory and has studied drama with Cecil Pickett and Chris Wilson.

With his background in the dramatic arts, Dan has been able to further combine his journalistic background with his own knowledge and experience of film by becoming an actor. He has had roles in the blockbuster movies CONTACT and MAD CITY and has appeared in several other features as well as on television.

In addition to Fifth Estate Productions, Dan also heads up SomFord Entertainment, a management and production company representing actors, directors and writers.

Dan lives in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles.
