EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL Festival Program Description August , 2000 A hard-hitting, tough documentary chronicling a gross miscarriage of justice and a devastating account of prejudice and homophobia from the producers of the Emmy winning, Oscar nominated "Waco: The Rules of Engagement." This harrowing tale concerns the 10 year long trials and emotional traumas suffered by a gay Michigan man named Stephen Matthews and his father when Stephen's ex-girlfriend and her husband accused them of molesting Stephen's son. Despite a total lack of physical or corroborating evidence, both men were sentenced to 35 years in prison. A chlamydia test which swayed the jury was later revealed to give false positive results--something the prosecutors should have known. A compelling, illuminating documentary directed by Nonny de la Peña. Produced by Dan Gifford
