Finally, from the producers of Waco: The Rules of Engagement comes another doc that really stirs things up, The Jaundiced Eye, about an unsettling miscarriage of justice in a Michigan child-molestation case. Written and directed by investigative journalist (and former PREMIERE contributor) Nonny de la Peņa, it's at once engrossing and shocking. De la Peņa has clearly learned a good deal from Morris, treating her subjects with empathy and, sometimes, welcome humor; but her investigative chops serve her in good stead as well, and what she reveals about the sloppiness and just plain negligence that was exercised in this case will profoundly shake whatever faith you currently put in our criminal justice system.
